The world's largest DAB-DGPS network,
WALCORS, is operated in Belgium by the Wallonian Ministry of
Transportation.
WALCORS comprises a
network of 23 GPS reference stations spread over the Wallony. An
optimized 'average value' of the correction data is broadcast on
RTBF's DAB ensemble.
The DAB service permits realtime positioning at sub-meter accuracy
within the entire country.
For the official operation of the WALCORS network (which started in
2003), Esslinger has developed portable DAB-DGPS receivers. They
were designed to interconnect with Trimble professional GPS
equipment.
Already in 2001 the Esslinger company started providing consulting and
technology services for an initial Belgian DAB-DGPS field
test.
